The Irish reel is a lively dance in simple meter (2/4, 2/2 ) or cut time. The Delaney Reel is dedicated to the Notre Dame
Symphonic Band which began in 1845 and is the oldest college band (in continuous existence) in the United States.
Its director is Dr. Ken Dye and is only the sixth director in its long history. The Delaney reel is also available for String orchestra.
